Featured Design Work
Just some bite sized design projects that I've worked on that deserve a space of their own!
Magazine Design
I love creating magazines and with careful layout and color choices in Adobe InDesign and Figma, I was able to create magazines that were a homage to the community.
For a second year, I was able to create a magazine through found photographs and illustrations for all of the talented writers from the second cohort
As the editor for Pardesi, a non-profit that is a community to South Asian women and femmes, I created a magazine that gave them a space to shine.
As the co-president and editor ofthis literary magazine club, I designed this magazine full of student photos and poems to showcase our work and what we are capable of creating.
Poster and Brochure Design
By playing with type and color, I created different posters for topics that interested me and elements like Urdu or designs that I wanted to see more in design.

Women In Film Poster
In order to showcase the very small number of women directors compared to men, I used a bar graph and clear colors and symbols to emphasize the disparity between the two.

Anuv Jain Concert Poster
Wanting to explore different ways to influence type, I got to use this project to see how to add more character to type and space.

Color Magazine Front Cover
For a project with a given top line, I wanted to explore how to use a significant color like sage green and connect to the urdu word for it, rung, and how a pattern can be formed.
Abortion Timeline Brochure
I wanted to tackle the history and importance of abortion laws in the U.S. and I there was no better way to do that than through a bite sized brochore showing which states it is legal to a have an abortion to make it even more impactful.
Animations
With Adobe After Effects and Illustrator, and spending long hours to get each pixel perfect, I was able to create station IDs, character stories, and trailers through playing with audio, motion and structure.

A Place For Us Opening Credits
A Place For Us is a well written novel by Fatema Farheen Mirza that I would love to see a movie on, which is why I created a animated opening credits all with easter eggs from the book.

The Moth
The Moth is a storytelling company and has a bunch of videos posted on social media. For an idea for the animated station ID, I took the moth from its logo to be ignited when it touches a flame, symbolizing the impact of the company.

Sitara Sound Design
Sitara is a non-audio animated short film that shows the problematic culture of child marriage and I wanted to add some sound effects that added to the message.

Golden Gate
I love the architecture of the Golden Gate Bridge and it took me many weeks to replicate it in the animation but it was worth it especially seeing how the nightlife colors can show with it.

Snow Day
Using After Effects and plugins to make characters walk was an interesting project, and it was better with a small story for a snow day.
Logo Design
By using Adobe Illustrator, I was able to create logos for communities that I would want to create and for organizations that I am a part of.

Strange Worlds Logo
Strange Worlds would be a book club community where people connect and create their own space while talking about stories that they love.

Aftab Logo
I revised the logo for the literary club to show the meaning more. Aftab means rays of light, so on an open book you can see the light coming off and then the t being substituted for the first letter of the Arabic alphabet highlighting the community.

Pause Logo
Pause is a podcast company that amplifys diverse voices and shares their stories to anyone that want to chase their dreams through any medium.
Illustrations
These are some illustrations I creatd to express places I loved and a bit of my own identity.

Panda Fun
Pandas are in my opinion the most playful animals and it took a while but I decided to linocut and then reillustrate them in just the same way.

Paki Tag
Paki is also a derogatory term but as a way to bring it back, I wanted to make it more fun with pastel colors (green for the national color) and bubble characters.

Astoria Train Views
I lived in Astoria, Queens for 15 years and loved taking the N train for the last stop, this is the illustrated version of what I usually see.

Badshahi Moon
I had never gone to visit Pakistan so it would always be something out of reach for me which is why I put all of the different beautiful landmarks on the crescent.
